Well, here we are.
We’re about one week away from the most controversial and pivotal election our country has faced in many years. The tension is tangible; and as November 8th nears, that tension increases. The political rhetoric from both sides will also magnify and probably grow uglier. Many will feel greater depths of hopelessness as we wonder what the future of our great country will look like.
When I am tempted to despair, I find great comfort in God’s faithfulness to His covenant people, Israel.
Take a look at these amazing scriptures:
“But the Lord will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as his special people once again. He will bring them back to settle once again in their own land” –Isaiah 14:1.
“I will faithfully reward my people for their suffering and make an everlasting covenant with them. Their descendants will be recognized and honored among the nations. Everyone will realize that they are a people the Lord has blessed” –Isaiah 61:8-9.
“This is what the LORD says: “I am as likely to reject my people Israel as I am to abolish the laws of nature!” -Jeremiah 31:36.
“And I will reaffirm my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord” –Ezekiel 16:62.
“O Israel, I will make you mine forever, showing you righteousness and justice, unfailing love and compassion. I will be faithful to you and make you mine, and you will finally know me as the Lord” –Hosea 2:19-20.
“I will watch over and care for Israel, and I will bring them back here again. I will build them up and not tear them down. I will plant them and not uproot them” –Jeremiah 24:6.
“They will possess their land forever, for I will plant them there with my own hands in order to bring myself glory” –Isaiah 60:21.
“I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me” Jeremiah 32:40.
The God of Israel has, is, and will be faithful to His covenants!
Therefore, you and I can look into the future with great hope and expectation that He will be faithful to us!
May your eyes be fixed on HIM in these coming days. For He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps! (Psalm 121:4)
The best is yet to come!
