TO AND FROM “THE LAND OF SINIM”  “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth…Behold, these will come from afar; and lo, these will come from the north and

PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL, FEBRUARY 27, 2017 Kalaniot in the Judean Hills 1. ON A HILLTOP NEAR YISH’I. This past Shabbat was perhaps the first real day of Spring (Hebrew: Aviv) in Israel. Like many Israelis, we went forth to greet the glorious weather with a picnic basket, blanket and camera. Our favourite place is a hilly area west of Jerusalem, just southwest of the town of Bet Shemesh. The white blossoms of almond

A SEASON FOR STRENGTHENING TIES      We believe nations to be currently passing through a special season of grace in which God is offering an opening, an opportunity, for them to choose to come into, or be strengthened in an alignment of favor with His covenant people Israel.  How long this period will last, we don’t know (next year, when Israel reaches its 70th birthday, may well be a turning point)—but

The almond trees are bursting into bloom in Israel!   Since the almond is “awake” while other trees are still sleeping, the letters for the word for almond “shaqed” form the root for another word meaning “to watch, guard, persevere, be awake.”  Both are used in Jeremiah 1:11-12 where God asks the prophet what he sees, and he answers, “A branch of an almond tree.”  The LORD responds, “You have

Battlements, Ramparts and Archery Slits behind the wall surrounding Jerusalem.   This week Jews around the world will be hearing Exodus 13:17—17:16 read in their Synagogues.  It is an incredible passage, beginning with YHVH’s mighty deliverance of Israel from Pharaoh’s army through the Red Sea, continuing with one of the great prophetic songs in the Bible, and concluding with victory over the Amalekites in their first major battle on the road towards Canaan. This week, rather than leading with our usual prayer points regarding “current events” in or related to Israel, we sensed the Lord would draw our focus to a vital principle of spiritual warfare to found in both the beginning and ending of this famous passage.  We pray the following teaching may be used by the Holy Spirit

PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL  JANUARY 30, 2017     MOUNT ZION FOLLOWING THE WEEKEND RAINS The slopes (which had burned last summer) are greening (see Psalm 147:8 below!).   Saturday was Rosh Hodesh Shevat, the beginning of the 11th month in the Hebrew calendar. This month is mentioned by name in Zechariah 1:7, after which the prophet is told by an angel to proclaim:   Thus says the LORD of Hosts, “I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and ZION…I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; My house will be built in it and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem…My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD will again comfort ZION and again choose Jerusalem…For I will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the

PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL–JANUARY 23, 2017     The Temple Mount, looking north from the window of Succat Hallel “Eternal God, bless President Donald J. Trump, and America, our great nation. Guide us to remember the words of the Psalmist: ‘Who will dwell on your holy mountain, one who does what is right, and speaks the truth. Who knows that when you eat the labor of your hands you are praiseworthy. That he who sows in tears, shall reap in joy. Because the freedoms we enjoy are not granted in perpetuity, but must be reclaimed by each generation.”                         (From prayer by Rabbi Marvin Hier at Inauguration of Donald Trump)     1.  ISRAEL AND THE CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT IN AMERICA   “Praise be to the name of God for ever and
