Growing up in a rural farm town in Minnesota, my childhood was filled with cars, trucks, and tractors. If it had an engine that made noise, I was interested in it. This was compounded by the fact that my father owned a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS, which he had restored in his younger years. Needless to say, the expression “from 0 to 60” was quite common in the conversations I had with my friends.
Today, most cars go “from 0 to 60” mph quite quickly. Even minivans can do it in less than 10 seconds. If you would have told me this when I was a teenager, I would have sneered and laughed at you for such nonsense.
Similarly, if you would have told me five years ago that there would be 60 Messianic congregations amongst the Lemba Jewish community in Zimbabwe, I would have laughed at such a wildly hopeful claim. The great news is, however, this fact is legitimate!
When MJBI started our work in Zimbabwe in 2012, there were no known Messianic Jewish congregations amongst the ancient Lemba Jewish tribe. In 2014 we graduated our first class of 39 students. They were immediately commissioned as leaders to reach their fellow Lemba with the Good News of Yeshua.
I just returned from Zimbabwe, where we had our second MJBI graduation for 96 students. Today, there are 60 Messianic congregations in the Lemba community all over Zimbabwe, and these graduates are all eager to pioneer even MORE!
From “0” congregations to “60” congregations in five years. Unbelievable!
The work in Zimbabwe is exactly why the MJBI was started 20 years ago – to train, educate and equip leaders to exponentially multiply the Kingdom of God in indigenous, Jewish cultures. What we are seeing in Zimbabwe today is a miraculous modern day revival of an ancient Jewish community – a community that has kept kosher for centuries, refused to intermarry, and kept Shabbat and circumcision as rituals of tribal, Jewish life.
You have been a key partner with us in the revival of this lost, scattered Jewish tribe. Without your support, none of this would have been possible. This miraculous move of God in Africa is part of your inheritance as you’ve sown sacrificially into this great Jewish harvest!
But this work is far from finished. In fact, we are still in our infancy in Zimbabwe. We’re on the cusp of launching our Kadima undergraduate program in Zimbabwe later this year, to deepen the level of training we provide for these Lemba believers. Now we are asking ourselves, how quickly will the Lord take us from “0 to 100”?
We need your help to continue growing in Zimbabwe. Would you please pray about sowing into this incredibly fertile Kingdom soil? Your gifts are changing lives, which change communities, which change nations!
