I often feel that I end a specific calendar year with the thought, “That was the best year I’ve ever had!” Maybe this is a product of my unyielding optimism, or maybe it’s really true each year?
The year of 2017 has definitely been an incredible one for us here at the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute. It all began on January 1 as I officially assumed the role as President & CEO from Dr. Wayne Wilks. Wayne and I immediately started on the most intensive international travel either of us had ever attempted. In less than six months, we traveled to all five major continents and 13 different countries. We made amazing new friends and partners as far away as Japan, South Africa and Poland.
This year also saw us completely update our MJBI branding and website. We refreshed our School of Messianic Theology (SMT) and launched our historic three-year college program, Kadima, in Zimbabwe. And we started translating our SMT into its fifth international language – Spanish.
But all of this did not come without trials and struggles. My own father, Jerry, was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in the beginning of 2017, and our MJBI staff endured many stresses and changes as we grew as well.
It is in the light of all of this that the holiday season has arrived. This is always a wonderful time of year to reflect on the blessings that sustain us – mainly the gift of our Messiah, Yeshua. His grace and mercy gives us strength and hope to believe for a better world ahead of us.
I pray that as you and your family enter this season of dedication (Hanukkah) and joy (Christmas), the great light of our Messiah will shine brightly on your hearts, your homes and your families. For our reason to be hopeful that 2018 will be even better than 2017 rests not in our accomplishments or failures, but in the peace that comes from a heart given fully to trusting in Yeshua.
You have been such a blessing to us at the MJBI this year. We are so grateful for your support, which allows us to continue our mission of educating leaders for Jewish ministry and to see all Israel saved (Romans 11:26). Truly, I know that God will richly bless you according to His promise in Genesis 12:3.
From Wayne & Bonnie, the MJBI team locally and around the world, and from Tabatha, Naomi, Avi & I, we wish you the brightest Hanukkah and Merriest Christmas yet!
With love and gratitude,
President & CEO
