Thirty-nine years before the State of Israel was born, 66 Jewish families joined together to establish a town on a desolate sand dune on the Mediterranean coast. Wondering what to name this new establishment, the residents looked to the name of a very popular book—Zionist Theodor Herzl’s famous last work, Altneuland (The Old New Land). In Hebrew: Tel Aviv (ביבא לת).

The literal meaning of Tel Aviv is “Spring Mound.” It illustrates the picture of an ancient hill of dirt bursting forth with the new life of spring. And bearing true to its name, the modern city of Tel Aviv is just that—a city bursting with new life!

Our spring issue of ZEALOUS follows in this example of “The Old New Land.” We are building new on the 20-year-old foundation created by Dr. Wayne and Bonnie Wilks.

We start by unveiling the new logo and branding for MJBI. Hot off the press, we have been working on this new design for a few months, and I am very excited to show it to you!

You will then have a chance to get to know my family a little more in this issue. Wayne interviews us in the featured article, and my wife also shares some of the incredible depths of her wisdom and insight in a very special piece that I know will bless you.

As a new addition to ZEALOUS, we are beginning a column called “Life from the Land.” This will be a recurring feature where some of my close friends leading ministries in Israel will share what God is doing through their efforts. This month, you’ll hear from native Israeli Moran Rosenblit, who leads a dynamic ministry called Hope for Israel in Jerusalem.

Preston Benjamin, a student at The King’s University, writes on the power of the School of Messianic Theology (SMT) from the perspective of a Millennial called to Messianic ministry.

Lastly, we share a recap of our fantastic “Steps in the Holy Land” tour from this past December with some testimonies from those who came with us.

Spring is truly here—both outdoors and in the ministry of the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute. We thank you for being part of this new life with us!
