Joy is a Serious Thing

Drugs, sex, and rock-and-roll once controlled the life of the wildly-popular Duck Commander, Phil Robertson, from the mega-hit show, A & E’s Duck Dynasty. Attending LSU on a football scholarship, Phil had a bright future but made devastating life choices, slipping far away from reality, home, and family. At the lowest point when Robertson asked his wife and children to leave, he remembered the story of salvation he had heard in a bar. The message of forgiveness came to life as Phil embraced Jesus and turned over a new leaf with God and his family.

After dedicating his life to the Lord, one of Phil’s greatest tests came when he discovered some men stealing fish on his property. So angry, Robertson was ready to unload a shotgun on the intruders. But as a new creation in Messiah, the Holy Spirit reminded him of the scripture in Romans 12:21: “…if your enemy is hungry feed him…don’t be overcome with evil but overcome evil with good.”

Later the thieves returned, Phil caught them red-handed and told them to keep whatever was in their net. Stunned, the men left and never stole from him again. Phil credits God for the success of his business and life and sees his unexpected thrust into the public’s eye as an opportunity to share the Good News. Above all, he has become a fisher of men!

This testimony is just one of the many reasons I am thrilled that Phil Robertson will be our banquet headliner along with eldest son, Alan. This year we are doing something different. We are offering a dinner and an arena event. We are serious about JOY and having fun. “Inexpressible Joy” is our theme, from I Peter 1:8-9: “…and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible…”

About the Event “Inexpressible Joy” will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Join this fun-filled evening where Phil and family will share heartwarming and hysterical stories about filming the show, what goes on behind the scenes, their lives, faith, family, and ducks. Unscripted and spontaneous, we will hear tales of trials, tribulations and triumphs! The Dynasty will be joined by “surprise”-musical guests who will provide a special-brand of toe-tapping fun along with side splitting comedy from Dennis Swanberg and Mike Williams.

Event Packages In keeping with our theme, the evening will begin with a family-style banquet dinner in our very own woodland retreat created just for MJBI sponsors. As far as what to wear, dress for fun and remember that you can’t go wrong if you accentuate with camouflage. Packages can include company branding on promotional pieces, an intimate small group session with Phil Robertson, photo opportunities with the Duck Commander himself, autographed copies of Phil’s book Happy, Happy, Happy, The Life and Legacy of the Duck Commander and genuine Duck Commander duck calls. After the banquet enjoy the show in your specially reserved arena floor seats!

Again we are SERIOUS about JOY and an evening of fun. Celebrate the simple. Laugh with us. Smile with us. Tap your toes with us. And as Phil says, get “HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY.” Go to for how to attend instructions and the latest updates.

You and I identify with the Duck Commander in the calling to be a fisher of men. It was Yeshua’s order for the original Jewish 12 followers. It is our mandate at the MJBI as well to train a generation to reach the House of Israel. Please open your hearts to give a generous gift today as the work of the ministry continues, fishing for Jewish souls around the globe that their eyes would be opened to recognize Him as long-awaited Messiah. Joy is a serious thing, for there is no true happiness without the fisherman with a message of forgiveness.
