Cloud over the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem

“Judah is a lion’s cub; from the prey, my son, you have gone up!”

(Genesis 49:9a)

1.  RAIN

“Let us now fear the LORD our God, Who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season.  He reserves for us the appointed weeks of the harvest” (Jeremiah 5:24b).

The “former rains” have finally begun in Israel, Hallelu-Yah!  There were some hopeful showers during the Feast of Tabernacles…then, nothing.  In much of Israel there has been absolutely no rain for over two months—the driest in 55 to 70 years.

Last week the Chief Rabbis called for a special mass prayer at the Western Wall, and instructed that prayers for rain be added to the regular prayers, and that special prayers and psalms be distributed to rabbis throughout the country for their congregations (“Pray for rain, chief rabbis urge Israelis”: The Times of Israel; 4 Dec 2013, 5:31 p.m.).

Now the rains have begun.  In fact, a very unusual front is approaching Israel from Russia, of a type which normally gets only as far south as Turkey.  Heavy rains and perhaps even snow are predicted for the end of this week.

*For the Former Rains to continue in Israel.  That the Lord, whose eyes are always on His land “from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year” (Deut. 11:12) will give us the rain for our land in its season.
*That Israel will not fall into another drought like the one which came to an end last year.

*That the Holy Spirit will convict Israelis of an awareness that the seasonal rains are the blessing of God, whom we are to love and serve with all our hearts and souls (Deut. 11:13).

*That the Sea of Galilee will be filled with the rains this year, even fuller than last year—and that the aquifers under the earth in Israel will be replenished.

Last Monday on the fifth day of Hanukkah, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara had audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican.  In the 25-minute meeting, they presented Francis with a special Hanukkiah (Hanukkah menorah), and a copy of a book about the Spanish Inquisition written by the Prime Minister’s father, historian Benzion Netanyahu, bearing an inscription, “To the great pastor and guardian of our common heritage.”  The Netanyahu’s also reiterated a previous invitation for the Pope to visit Israel.

*For God to work His relationship between Pope Francis and Netanyahu, as well as between Israel and the Vatican.

*For God to warm Pope Francis’ heart with divine revelation regarding Israel.  He has already made warm overtures to the Jewish community in Rome.  The world is aware of a different spirit on this Pope than that which has rested on many of his predecessors.  Pray that ancient strongholds between Rome and Israel would be broken—and that light would shine where there has been great darkness in the past.

*Pray for illumination to continue in the spirit of Benyamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara regarding the truth of the Messiah of Israel, Yeshua, the Light shining in darkness…which is their Salvation, and which can lead them in the paths for which they have been placed in office in Israel during this season.

Monday talks resume (this time in Vienna instead of Geneva) between the P5+1 group to iron out technical details related to last month’s much-lauded six month “interim deal” with Iran, which is supposed to slow down that nation’s nuclear program in exchange for an easing of sanctions by the West. But the meetings this week will in no way launch the deal. As of now, there is still no date set for the upper-level meetings which must take place before it actually goes into effect.

The deal would allow Iran to continue low-level enrichment of uranium, and Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has labeled it a “historic mistake.”  (See: “P5+1 talks on Iran’s nukes to resume on Monday”: The Times of Israel; 7 December 2013, 8:38 a.m.).  Addressing a recent forum on U.S.-Israel relations hosted by the Brookings Institute, the Prime Minister warned the international community that any long-term deal with Iran must end its “military nuclear capability.”  He questioned why, if all its aims at nuclear enrichment are peaceable, it continues to take such steps as developing ballistic missiles.

He also demanded that the U.S. and other negotiators must insist as part of any deal they work out, that Iran “change its genocidal policy” towards the Jewish state—that the talks must include an “unequivocal demand” that Iran not merely tweak the “minutiae” of its nuclear program, but alter its whole policy towards Israel, a nation which its leaders, using the label “Zionist entity”, have repeatedly predicted will soon cease to exist. (See:  “Netanyahu says nuke negotiators must demand Iran change ‘genocidal policy’:, 08 Dec 2013).  Hours before the beginning of the talks in Geneva last month, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei likened Israel to “rabid dogs” whose people should not be considered human.

*Psalm 129:5:  “May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward.”

*That the regime in Iran advocating hatred towards Israel and her people would fall.

*That the Light shining in Darkness would penetrate the veil released by the anti-Christ spirit blinding the hearts of the people in the Muslim republic.  That among the greatly persecuted Believers in that Land, those who “know their God” would “be strong and do exploits”, and “those with insight will instruct many”,  even as will also take place to children of the same God in Israel in days ahead! (Daniel 11:32-33).  Pray that God’s redemptive purposes for the nation of Iran will be released on earth as they are in heaven.

*That the P5+1 group will be granted mercy and wisdom in their negotiations—and not be deceived into implementation of any deal which will result in opening gates for release of evil powers of destruction outside of the timings which God has ordained.

*That the plans of the enemy for an Iranian nuclear weapon for use against Israel will be put into disarray.  That heavenly warriors be commissioned to fight the Prince of Persia—on behalf of Israel and on behalf of the people of that nation, whom Satan hates, but the Lord loves (Daniel 10:20).

*For heavenly counsel to Prime Minister Netanyahu and his Cabinet and coalition—regarding the times and the seasons, and “what Israel should do.”
