Saved on March 2, 1970, at the age of 31, Olen, the son of a preacher, answered God’s call to a pastoral ministry shortly thereafter. Upon graduating from Southwestern Theological Seminary in 1972, his first pastorate was the First Baptist Church, Johnson City, Texas.
In March 1974, Olen became pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. Olen candidly testifies about the difficult 9 months that followed his arrival, including the church burning to the ground. With the few families that remained, Olen and wife Syble started Shady Grove Church. Under his leadership, a foundation was built with a strong emphasis on team ministry, world missions and vibrant praise and worship. Olen’s vision to see the manifest presence of God and the spirit of the Tabernacle of David restored in accordance with Scripture transformed Shady Grove Church.
Olen currently serves as the Founder and Apostolic Leader of Antioch Oasis International Network (AOI) and serves as an Apostolic Elder to Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas.
Olen and Syble have two children, six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. They both enjoy family activities, and they love watching as the legacy they have been called to build unfolds in their succeeding generations.
