ISRAEL PRAYER UPDATE–DECEMBER 27, 2016

1.  RESOLUTION 2334 On Friday afternoon, as the Sabbath drew near (already begun in Jerusalem, and with the Jewish festival of Hanukkah waiting to open at its close), the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution laying down as “international law” a number of severe pronouncements, pronouncements before which nations will henceforth be faced with grim choices so far as their views and dealings regarding Israel and Jerusalem are concerned.

Hanukkah and Christmas:  Together at Week’s End   Hanukkah:  Saturday evening begins the eight-day Hebrew celebration of the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in 164 B.C., after God’s deliverance from a terrible pagan oppression in which the Jews had been severely persecuted and the Holy Place defiled (We will have more to say about Hanukkah in next week’s Update.) Christmas:  Saturday night will also usher in celebration round the

PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL–December 5, 2016     Rain-soaked slope of Mount Carmel Saturday morning, which a week ago was dry, portions of the mountain exploding into an inferno around Haifa.   “For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you

SO MANY THANKS TO THOSE OF YOU WHO PRAYED FOR THE GLOBAL GATHERING IN JERUSALEM THIS PAST WEEK.  SO MUCH WAS POWERFULLY RELEASED;  WE PLAN TO SHARE WITH YOU IN FUTURE UPDATES AS WE GAIN PERSPECTIVE ON SOME OF THE WAYS IN WHICH GOD RELEASED HIS BLESSING!   1.  IN PRAYING FOR ALIYAH,  IT IS IMPORTANT TO PRAY ALSO FOR ABSORPTION…AND FOR SPACE  As we have shared over the past few years, we believe we have moved into a season in which it is extremely important to pray for Jews to make aliyah (“immigrate”) to Israel.  God is calling His people back to the land promised to them through the Fathers (see Genesis 12:7, from last week’s Torah Portion). At present, it is still possible for Jews to come with

1.  A GLOBAL GATHERING IN JERUSALEM.   “In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him, and His resting place will be glorious.” (Isaiah 11:10)   Monday through Friday of this week, thousands of believers from around the world are gathering together with local Jewish and Arab brothers and sisters, coming together for a “Global Gathering” in Jerusalem.    One of the facilitators for the gathering David Demian, of Watchmen for the Nations, described its vision this way: On November 7-11, 2016, at the Lord’s request, we will gather in Jerusalem as a global family from many nations in order to lift up His name, seek His face and prepare a glorious resting place for His presence to dwell.

1.  THE FORMER RAINS  “For after seven more days, I will cause it to rain on the earth…” (Genesis 7:4).    On Thursday it finally rained in Israel.  There was flooding in the Negev to the south; in Jerusalem it showered, clarifying the atmosphere from the dust which had been sitting over us for several days.  This came three days after Shemini Atzeret (the eighth day of Sukkot), when observant Jews traditionally pray for God to send rains. In this part of the Middle-East, from mid-May to late October there is virtually no precipitation at all. With Thursday’s showers, we have now entered into the season known Biblically as the “Former Rains”, whichcome in the fall and winter; the “Latter Rains” arrive in early spring. Please pray with us for abundant
